Structural, physical and mechanical changes of cement-bonded particleboards during sudden fluctuations in temperature and moisture

Abstract The paper presents research focused on behaviour of cement-bonded particleboards with modified composition during sudden changes temperature and humidity. Four types boards were made—one control three ones. Finely ground limestone was used as a modifying component in binder. Secondary wood particles made from crushing cuttings chips substituent. Two sets test specimens (1 set = 6 specimens) manufactured. first stored laboratory conditions. second subjected to 10 cycles (? 20 °C + 70 °C) humidity accordance EN 321 (further the referred “wet–frost–dry cycle”.) After each cycle, dimensions mass well ultrasonic pulse velocity determined. A detailed analysis structural cycling carried out by an optical microscope. wet–frost–dry completed, bending strength modulus elasticity results implies very good relation between change width cracks area interfacial zone cement matrix particles. This finding also corresponds dimensional volumetric boards. Dependence is apparent. Positive influence secondary spruce caused proved. contributes more resistant structure which leads improved properties. Adverse conditions had considerable (decrease 21% 26%) than 12% 19%).
